We do not show live prices for South Africa yet. A market joins Tradzy Markets when we have a price source we are allowed to publish. Until then this page explains how the market works.
How investing works in South Africa
Shares in South Africa trade on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. To buy them you need a broker that is able to trade on that exchange, and you pay in ZAR.
The regulator is the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA). It licenses brokers and publishes the rules for listed companies, so checking that a broker is registered with it is the first step.
Before you invest, read the rules for foreign investors in South Africa: some markets limit who may buy, and some restrict how money leaves the country. Our guide on foreign investor rules covers what to check.
Prices are quoted in ZAR. If you live in another currency, a move in the exchange rate can change your return even when the share price does not move. See currency risk for foreign stocks.
